Workers rallying with signs that say Alaskans working for Alaska

What it means to sign an Authorization Card

Signing an Authorization for Representation Card is a powerful step in the unionization process. By signing, you show your support for forming union, which will help us achieve the 30% minimum needed to file a petition with the Alaska Labor Relations Agency (ALRA) or the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) for private sector employees. A signed card is your voice in moving us closer to a union election, where we can officially choose to be represented. Signing is confidential and carries no obligation— it simply says you support having a vote on union representation.

Why Sign Now?

This is a crucial moment to take action. When workers have a voice, workplaces get better—and that voice begins by acting now.

In Alaska, state law provides a clear and established path for public employees to organize and bargain collectively through the Alaska Labor Relations Agency (ALRA). Moving forward now allows workers to fully use these protections, build a strong and representative bargaining unit, and begin shaping fair, sustainable working conditions—before decisions continue to be made without employee input.

For private-sector workers, federal law continues to protect the right to organize through the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), even as the agency faces ongoing challenges. Acting now matters. Organizing early builds unity, strengthens legal protections, and positions workers to secure real improvements. Waiting delays progress—standing together now creates it.
