ASEA Authorization Card
What it means to sign an Authorization Card
The path to unionization begins with signing a union authorization card. Signing a card indicates your interest in exploring collective representation—it is not a vote, but a confidential step to move the process forward.
Once a sufficient number of employees have signed cards, a Representation Petition will be filed with the Alaska Labor Relations Agency (ALRA) or the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). After the agency verifies the showing of interest, an election will be scheduled where employees will vote on whether to be represented by a union.
If a majority of employees vote in favor, ASEA will be recognized as the bargaining representative. This allows employees, through ASEA, to negotiate a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) that puts workplace rights, protections, and benefits into a legally binding contract.
